NBC News Video: Missing Jet was Carrying Potentially Flammable Batteries: CEO
Potentially flammable lithium batteries were being transported on missing Flight 370, the chief executive of Malaysia Airlines confirmed Friday.
Ahmad Jauhari Yahya told a news conference that the batteries had been packed in accordance with guidelines issued by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO).
"They are not dangerous per se, but they have been packed as recommended by the ICAO," he added. "We check them several times to make sure the packing is right."
Many airlines carried the batteries, the airline boss added.
